Orange and Febelfin about digital inclusion

Almost one in five poor households in Belgium has no internet connection. So says the Digital Inclusion Barometer 2022*. To reduce the gap between those who have access and those who do not have access to the internet, a phone or a computer, it is important to strive for digital inclusion.

We met two of our loyal partners: Orange Belgium and Febelfin. In the video below, they explain the importance of digital inclusion and how they are committed to this through both individual projects and their partnership with TADA.

What are the actions developed by Orange et Febelfin?

Orange and Febelfin are two organizations that emphasize the importance of digital inclusion and contribute to it in various ways.

On its side, Orange Belgium has launched 2 structures: The Orange Digital Centre (ODC) and the Orange Belgium Fund. In the ODC, training courses and workshops on topics such as coding, 5G etc. are made accessible to anyone who wants them. The aim of this is to strengthen the digital skills of those who need it in order to make a difference in the labour market. The Orange Belgium fund aims to support those excluded from the digital world, with a particular focus on women and young people in precarious situations. Within this, the cooperation with TADA arose at various levels.

Febelfin has signed a digitAll charter, which makes its responsibility regarding (financial) digital inclusion official, but also organises information sessions and develops E-learning for professionals and volunteers. The organisation also launched a website for young people by young people. According to them, this is the best way to assist yougsters where necessary. Finally, Febelfin carries out collaborations with initiatives such as TADA to promote digital inclusion.

What does the collaboration with TADA look like?

The collaboration between TADA and Orange Belgium is one on many levels. Thanks to Orange Belgium, the weekend schools receive digital support on Saturdays, so that the children are immersed in the digital world from an early age. The alumni who have completed the weekend school are offered internship opportunities with companies, coaching and mentoring, among other things. Finally, Orange employees offer webinars and home visits to strengthen the knowledge and use of digital tools in the (home) environment of the TADA yougsters.

Febelfin is also doing a lot to engage TADA youngsters on a digital level. For instance, several employees already gave workshops in the weekend school related to the digitalisation of daily finances. Examples include online banking or shopping. The young people are then also given a guidebook to take home with them for long-term guidance. Febelfin also offers Jobdays to promote the professional integration of alumni, thus helping them on their way in the labour market.

We thank Orange Belgium and Febelfin for our loyal partnership and for striving to make digital accessible to all.
